Search Bible Classes

The search function searches Bible class descriptions and transcripts. When the search function finds the search word or phrase, you will be presented with links to the classes that contain those words. The link will take you to the class audio page. If you want to find where the search phase is located in the Bible class transcript, click on the Transcript:read link to view the transcript. Once in the transcript window, type Ctrl-F (PC) or Cmd-F (Mac) to enter the word or phrase in the browser search box, and it will show you all occurrences of your search word(s).

Search Tips

  • Entering a search string with no other criteria (such as AND, NOT, or quote marks) will return some of the context around the words you entered (which are highlighted) as well as a link to the audio player for the class.
That page will also have links to the video, transcript, and slides for that class.

  • Entering two search terms separated by the word AND will return links to all items which contain both of those terms as well as part of the description of each class.

  • Entering two terms separated by the word NOT will return links to all items which contain the first term but not the second term as well as part of the description of each class.

  • Entering a search string in quotes will return links to items that contain the exact phrase as well as part of the description of each class.

Colossians (2011)
Sunday, August 19, 2012
by Robert Dean
Passage: Colossians 3:16 & Ephesians 5:18-20
Series: Colossians (2011)
Duration: 52 mins 54 secs
Anything other than God’s idea of worship by means of Spirit and Truth is a breakdown of standards. Within God’s creation, if all areas aren’t addressed by His righteousness and holiness, then no area is addressed. That must mean that God’s character is the issue when we worship through congregational music. What source do we use to evaluate music for worship so that it reflects intrinsic, objective, Godly beauty? Is our appreciation of beauty a measure of its worth? Learn some fallacies and truths in the worship wars involving church music in our culture.

Was America founded as a Christian nation? Listen to this message to learn what the Founding Fathers had to say about this. Continue the study of worshipping God through music. Hear a number of popular fallacies current today in the “worship wars” taking place in churches. See that the worldview of the culture influences music, art, and literature and that Christian music must be based on principles from God’s Word. Be aware of the danger of conforming Christian music to the pagan culture in order to attract people.

In this message Dr. Dean referenced the book Why Johnny Can't Sing Hymns: How Pop Culture Rewrote the Hymnal by David Gordon.
