Romans (2010)

Romans (2010)

November 2010 - December 2014

Romans has always been one of the favorite books of thoughtful Christians. In this epistle, the apostle Paul logically delineates the foundation and structure of Christian doctrine. The righteousness of God has been accurately identified as the central message of this epistle. How the righteousness of God relates to a human history of suffering, pain, and injustice, has been a frequent question through the ages. In Romans, Paul's answer shows that this question cannot be addressed in a sound bite or executive summary. The character of God, the volition of man, the history of man's rejection of God, must form the backdrop to a serious discussion on the righteousness of God. But an accurate understanding of the righteousness of God also reveals to us the magnificence of God's grace and His gracious plan of justification available freely to all mankind.

But this does not stop with simple justification, but also explains God's righteousness in the life of the believer after salvation and how God's righteousness is vindicated in history as indicated through His faithful love for Israel.

Passage: Romans 3:14-20
Series: Romans (2010)
Duration: 56 mins 36 secs
At the point of salvation, we receive several things from God. One of them is Righteousness. But whose Righteousness is it? Is it a righteousness that God the Holy Spirit creates within us, or is it God's own perfect Righteousness from His essence? And what of redemption and propitiation? When Christ paid the legal penalty for all mankind's sins on the cross, He served as our kinsman redeemer, and God's justice was satisfied - propitiation. That means that redemption and propitiation relate to all mankind. Yet the condemnation of Adam's original sin and the state of unrighteousness and spiritual death must still be resolved. So what must occur for God to make a declaration of Righteousness for each one of us?

Series: Romans (2010)
Duration: 57 mins 44 secs
We continue our study in the book of Romans by looking at Genesis 15:6 and are reminded of what Grace really means. We learn the importance of what is meant by the word "Biblical", that all authority is the Word of God only. We learn that "belief" is illustrated in both Abraham and David in the Old Testament, and is the basis of their Justification. Justification is from the Grace of God.

Lesson also includes Genesis 15:6
