Galatians 5:16-23 teaches that at any moment we are either walking by the Holy Spirit or according to the sin nature. Walking by the Spirit, enjoying fellowship with God, walking in the light are virtually synonymous. During these times, the Holy Spirit is working in us to illuminate our minds to the truth of Scripture and to challenge us to apply what we learn. But when we sin, we begin to live based on the sin nature. Our works do not count for eternity. The only way to recover is to confess (admit, acknowledge) our sin to God the Father and we are instantly forgiven, cleansed, and recover our spiritual walk (1 John 1:9). Please make sure you are walking by the Spirit before you begin your Bible study, so it will be spiritually profitable.

See what takes place at the Bema Seat of Christ and learn that this judgment is for believers only to determine their rewards. Passage: 1 Peter 4:5-6 & 1 Corinthians 3:12-15
Series: 1 Peter (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 8 mins 35 secs

What does it mean when the Bible says that everyone must give an account of themselves to God? Listen to this lesson to see that every person born into this world will face an evaluation by God. For the believer this is called the Judgment Seat of Christ where we will be evaluated in order to determine our rewards and responsibilities. For the unbeliever, there is the Great White Throne of God. Hear what aspects of a person’s life will be judged there to see whether or not they are qualified to live with God forever. Hear about the Lamb’s Book of Life and the Book of Works. Understand that sinful man cannot perform righteous deeds. Realize that the Lake of Fire is a reality. When talking to unbelievers help them to see that sin is no longer an issue since Christ cancelled the sin debt on the Cross but the focus is on belief in Christ.

This lesson also includes Revelation 20:11–15.

Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:10 & 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
Series: Dr. Dean One-Lesson Specials
Duration: 1 hr 22 mins 6 secs

This message is a recorded Zoom meeting. Dr. Dean was invited to speak to the Hephzibah Apologetics group in Oxford, England on 9-11-2020. Due to the pandemic, the meeting was conducted via Zoom. The topic is what the Bible teaches about the "Overcomer."

Is every believer an Overcomer? Listen to this message to learn what an Overcomer is and who qualifies for that title. Find out that after the Rapture all believers will be evaluated at the Bema or Judgment Seat of Christ. See that the purpose of this is to find out what the believer has accomplished that is rewardable and not to expose sins, which have been forgiven by Christ’s death on the Cross. Hear a number of Scriptures applying to this and the contrast between victorious believers and other believers. As you listen to this, ask yourself if you are maturing spiritually and becoming an Overcomer.

Note that Dr. Dean has done a more in-depth study of “Overcomers” in his Philippians series, lessons #11–16.
